WordPress -> Blogging System
Woocommerce -> E-commerce System -> Amazon synchronization
Android custom app [hybrid] -> Merchandise management

WordPress based e-commerce solution

Customer requirements:

  • Web shop
  • Table reservation system
  • Blogging System
  • Reservation of space for workshops

Implementation:

  • E-commerce
    :WordPress
    Woocommerce + synchronization with Amazon
custom Android app for matching with product status in physical business.
  • Table reservation system
Originally a WordPress plugin (Restaurant Reservations) was used for this purpose, but was replaced with Quandoo at the customer’s request.
  • Bloggin System
    WordPress Blog
  • Space reservation for workshops
After a few attempts with plugins like “Event Espresso”, “The Events Calendar”, the slim little plugin “Team Booking” is now used.
  • Additional solution attachments that arose over time:
Page speed – solution approach became a combination of..
Image size reduction by means of
“Smush”caching originally using “Jetpack” for CDN, then “W3 Total Cache”, meanwhile “Cloudflare” is used, because security also became a factor.

WordPress based multilingual website

Customer requirements:

  • Conversion of a “legacy system’s” custom php website to a WordPress site
  • All about GUI can be controlled
  • Multi-languages capable
  • On page SEO should be feasible for an external agency

Implementation:

  • After research and code review, relevant data is extracted directly from MySQL DB and outsourced to text files. After the WordPress installation partly medium “SQL insert” statements inserted directly into the relevant WordPress tables and import the rest via the plugin “All import”.
  • The problem with the previous solution (custom system) were “hardcoded” image paths and design instructions (CSS) were only feasible for the developer. Furthermore, errors slowly crept into the system, uploads no longer worked, etc. Image galleries were pure Javascript and unusable for SEO because they were generated dynamically and were not indexed by search engines. And since the customer’s previous collaboration with the developer ended in a “super gau”, the customer could not change anything himself. After an explanation of the powerful capabilities of WordPress, the implementation was decided. The request of the “handing over GUI” of font, picture galleries drag&drop, was not a problem with WordPress.
  • Multilingualism is realized by means of the free plugin “Polylang”.
  • Onpage SEO ability (image writing, setting the appropriate header sizes, “pretty URL’s”), was also given with WordPress and for fine-tuning the plugin “YOAST” was used.
  • The site also contained Javascript animations, which the customer wanted to keep. These were added to the theme by “custom code”.

WordPress-based website with catalog function

Customer requirements:

  • Conversion of a “legacy system’s” custom php website into a WordPress
  • PageEverything can be controlled via GUI
  • Catalog function

  • The request of the “handing over GUI” of font, picture galleries drag&drop, was not a problem with WordPress.
  • Another concern of the customer was the possibility to present his products, however, without ordering via the website. For this purpose, I chose Woocommerce and deactivated all “e-commerce” aspects. If the customer decides otherwise, converting a (partially) deacted Woocommerce is easier.
  • A special feature of this page was the circumstance of the “house-internal server”. A Windows server with very limited rights, for me as well as for WordPress and a lot of correspondence with the network technician.
  • Onpage SEO ability (image writing, setting the appropriate header sizes, “pretty URL’s”), was also given with WordPress and for fine-tuning the plugin “YOAST” was used.
  • The page also included Javascript features for collecting customer emails, which the customer wanted to keep. These were added to the theme by “custom code”.

  • Everything can be done by yourself (image upload, change texts, change contact information)
  • “Mobile first”

Implementation:

  • The data of the old downloaded and made available offline and WordPress installed
  • Then themes installed and screenshots of the different variants sent to speed up the process
  • Everything is hanging – thanks to WordPress no problem and for the arrangement of the page elements I have chosen for the free pagebuilder of SiteOrigin
